Herradura in a nutshell

Herradura sits on a sheltered, horseshoe-shaped bay — “herradura” means horseshoe in Spanish — in the province of Puntarenas, about 15 minutes north of Jacó by road. The beach, Playa Herradura, has dark sand and generally calmer water than the surf beaches to the south. The town side of the bay has local restaurants, small hotels and fishing boats, while the southern side is home to Los Sueños Resort & Marina.

Where golf carts are useful in Herradura

Golf carts are most useful inside Los Sueños Resort & Marina, where guests use them every day to reach the marina village, beach club, pools and golf course. That is where our service is focused, and delivery to eligible Los Sueños properties is free.

Outside the resort, things are different. Golf carts are low-speed vehicles, and the main road along the coast, Route 34, is a fast highway that is not suitable for carts. If your accommodation is in Herradura but outside Los Sueños, ask us before booking — we will tell you honestly whether a cart is practical for your location.

Things to do around Herradura Bay

  • Swim and relax on Playa Herradura’s calmer water.
  • Book an inshore or offshore sportfishing charter from Los Sueños Marina.
  • Play a round on the rainforest golf course at Los Sueños.
  • Take a boat trip along the coast or to nearby islands.
  • Visit Carara National Park, a short drive north, known for scarlet macaws and birdwatching.

Getting around without a cart

For trips beyond the resort — Jacó, Carara or the airport — use a rental car, taxi or private shuttle. Many visitors combine both: a shuttle or car for longer trips and a golf cart for daily life inside Los Sueños. Our transportation options guide compares them.

Rates and delivery

  • If it is outside the resort, message us first to confirm delivery.
  • Plan a car, taxi or shuttle for any trips that require highway driving.
