Golf Cart Rental Los Sueños: Complete Visitor Guide

Golf cart rental at Los Sueños Resort Costa Rica overlooking the marina

Why this guide exists

Los Sueños Resort & Marina, on Herradura Bay on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast, is one of the country’s best-known resort communities. It combines a large sportfishing marina, a rainforest golf course, a hotel, beach club and residential neighborhoods spread over the hills above the bay. For visitors, that layout raises one practical question almost immediately: how do you get around once you arrive?

For most guests the answer is a golf cart. This guide brings together the questions we hear most often — what it costs, which cart to choose, how delivery works, where you can drive and how to reserve — so you can plan transportation before you land.

How a golf cart fits a Los Sueños vacation

Distances inside the resort are not huge, but they are hilly, and the Pacific sun is strong. Walking from a hillside condo down to the marina village is pleasant once; walking back up after dinner, carrying a sleeping toddler or a cooler, is another story. A cart turns those trips into a few relaxed minutes.

Guests typically use their cart for daily runs to the beach club, the pools, the marina restaurants and shops, the golf clubhouse and the grocery store. Fishing groups use carts to haul gear to the docks before sunrise, and golfers use them to reach their tee times without moving the car. Read more in Why Rent a Golf Cart at Los Sueños Resort?.

Prices at a glance

Our golf cart rentals start at $64.99 per day for a four-passenger cart, and delivery to eligible Los Sueños properties is free. Multi-day discounts are available, and weekly or monthly rates are quoted on request. Six-passenger carts can be requested subject to availability and are quoted individually.

There is no separate delivery fee for eligible resort properties. Deposit, payment and cancellation terms are set out in the online rental contract you complete when booking. The full breakdown is on our golf cart rental prices page.

Choosing the right cart size

  • Four-passenger cart — the standard choice for couples, small families and golf foursomes. See 4 passenger golf cart rental.
  • Six-passenger cart — useful for families of five or six who want to ride together; subject to availability. See 6 passenger golf cart rental.
  • Two carts — often the most flexible option for larger groups, because people can split up for golf, fishing and the beach.

How delivery works

When you reserve, tell us your building, condo or villa name and your arrival date. We bring the cart to your property, fully charged, at a time that works with your arrival. At the end of the rental we pick it up from the same place. You never need to visit an office or return keys anywhere. Details are in our delivery guide.

Booking step by step

  • Send your rental start and end dates, number of passengers, number of carts and delivery location using the availability form — it opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.
  • We reply with availability and your total.
  • Complete the online rental contract to secure your dates.
  • Your cart is waiting at your property when you arrive.

During busy periods — Christmas and New Year, Easter week (Semana Santa), and the marina’s major sportfishing tournaments — carts can be booked well in advance, so reserving early is the safest plan. See How to Reserve a Golf Cart for tips.

Where you can drive

Plan to use the cart within the resort. Los Sueños has internal roads, gatehouses and community guidelines that every driver is expected to respect. Golf carts are low-speed vehicles and are not designed for highways such as Route 34 (the Costanera Sur), which connects Herradura with Jacó and the rest of the coast. For trips outside the resort, use a car, taxi or shuttle.

Basic courtesy goes a long way: drive slowly, yield to pedestrians, park only in appropriate areas and keep everyone seated. Our golf cart safety guide covers this in more detail.

Getting to Los Sueños

Most international visitors fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) near San José. The drive to Herradura generally takes around an hour and a half to two hours depending on traffic, mostly via Route 27 and then Route 34 along the coast. Many guests use a private shuttle and rely on a golf cart for getting around once they arrive. See Transportation Options at Los Sueños.
